How technology helps communicate design ideas efficiently.
My landscape architecture course feels like a lifetime ago. Back then, while my peers were beginning to embrace programs such as Photoshop, I doggedly stuck to trying to do everything by hand. While I love look of hand drawn plans and supporting images, I've come to appreciate the power of 3D modeling and rendering. Programs like SketchUp and Twinmotion allow me to quickly explore design options, create realistic visualizations, and effectively communicate my vision to clients. The below images were created using such methods to aid in various design proposals.
One key benefit of modern rendering software is the ability to illustrate how the garden could be used at various times of the day. This is thanks to realistic sun position and lighting effects.
