About me
Hi, I'm Ed, and I'm passionate about designing gardens. My horticultural career began like most — reluctantly pushing a mower for my parents as soon as I was strong enough to wrestle it out of the shed. At first, I found this seemingly Sisyphean task — like most gardening jobs — a complete chore. However, over the years I became fascinated by the garden, eventually finding pleasure in edging borders and deadheading the Roses. A seed had been sown.
After a year of dabbling in art and design at college, I decided to merge my newfound interest with my creative endeavors. I enrolled in a Landscape Architecture course, eager to learn the fundamentals of good design. While the coursework was valuable, I couldn't help feeling that something was missing. After all, how can you truly design an outdoor space if you've never built or maintained one? As such, I decided to get my hands dirty and began taking jobs at plant nurseries and working for landscapers. This culminated in running my own successful garden maintenance and landscape business for many years.
Today, I combine that practical experience with my design skills to create gardens that are both beautiful and functional.

My Philosophy
My design philosophy centres around creating striking, but practical gardens that thrive in the real world. I prioritise the use of long-lived perennials, grasses, trees and shrubs that are hardy and exhibit good resistance to pests and diseases. This approach fosters diverse and sustainable gardens while minimising ongoing maintenance and reducing environmental impact.
